Kaitlyn's last chemo at 5:00 a.m. came and went quietly -- but in my heart I was cheering that the infusions are finally over. I figured out this morning that over the span of these last 5 months Kaitlyn has had 63 doses of various types of chemo meds which have caused:
nausea and vomiting,
mucositis,
c-difficile,
all of her hair to fall out (eyelashes, brows, etc.),
her nails to die and break off,
the skin to peel off her hands and feet,
the lining to peel off the inside of her mouth,
depression,
loss of concentration,
insomnia,
numerous pains and high fevers,
a loss of appetite which resulted in treatment-induced anorexia,
severe colitis,
panic attacks,
AND--
the complete remission of Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.

We love you so much Kait
ReplyDeleteOh Kaitlyn, I'm so, so sorry you're having to go through all of this! Please know that I think of you often and pray for you every single day! I wish 23 of us could line up and take your pain away for an hour every day. You could have an hour too! :) Brother Steyskal and I are pulling for you. After this, you'll be able to live life again! Take care!
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy the view for such a difficult climb. I love you and your fight to overcome this has inspired us when we have had rough days. Hope to see you soon.
ReplyDeleteYou will--Kaitlyn wanted to come the last time she was out of the hospital, but she got car sick (she's always had a tendency for that) just going with me to pick the kids up from school, so I wanted to wait. Casey and Mallory and the kids will be here in 2 weeks--Casey for a whole month! We will definitely get down. I'll be in touch.
